The new library of the subcenter of Beijing, the completion of which is foreseen for the beginning of 2024, will offer a contemporary and timeless space for the exchange of knowledge, with which the Norwegian firm praises China’s rich culture. With an imposing height of 16 meters, the main hall is defined by the harmony between two elements of marked contrast. On one hand, the ‘forest’ of slender columns that supports a roof of abstract forms inspired by the ginkgo leaves. On the other, the monumental platform sculpted in the terrain, which plays multiple roles and contains experimental spaces where visitors can enjoy reading and learning.
