The Santiago de Compostela practice of Elizabeth Abalo and Gonzalo Alonso designed this school on the edge of the urban core of the Galician municipality of A Estrada. Wooden volumes are arranged in a row, connected by a play of pitched roofs, with double boards on straps of laminated timber, insulation, and zinc. Executed on a total budget of 777,504.86 euros, the 767.50-square-meter building presents a structural system of loadbearing walls of cross laminated firwood timber. The functional scheme is organized in three longitudinal bands: administration and services on the north, classrooms on the south, and the multipurpose hall and general circulation distributor in the middle.
