Fernando Menis Arquitectos at Aedes in Berlin

On view from 7 December to 17 January at the Aedes Architecture Forum in Berlin is ‘Menis Backstage: Nature, Culture and Materiality.’ The exhibition delves into the creative processes of the Canarian practice whose architectural work is grounded upon experimentation, research, and innovation, with close attention to context, topography, climate, artisanship, and local materials. A walk-in cube – 5x5x5 meters – takes the visitor through recent buildings like the Jordanki Cultural and Congress Center in Toruń (Poland) or the hotel complex and public square in Bürchen (Switzerland). Sculptural models made with different materials (such as concrete, ceramic, and metal) and the never-before-exhibited Acoustic Frames show the relationship between function and form that is present in all projects by Menis.
